"If in your spirit the desire to study and flee from the shadows of ignorance makes you feel, you will find in it the beautiful tree of honor. It makes study shine like stars to the great ones, and to those who are not, it elevates them to the same show-off "
This was one of the original inscriptions that could be read in the Madrasah Palace, which was built by Yusuf I in 1349 and housed the first "Madrasa" or university in the city. Worth seeing are the 14th-century Muslim Oratory that still remains almost intact and the Knights XXIV room, with a spectacular Mudejar-style coffered ceiling.
Not far from this palace, the Carmen of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation dominates the Realejo neighborhood with its unique architecture. José María Rodríguez-Acosta, painter, designed this "Carmen" as a place to stroll and obtain the desired inspiration. He merged Art Deco, orientalism, classicism, and a host of other styles in his architecture that make his house a unique space and a must-see when visiting Granada.
