Asier is a fantastic guide, very high level and quality of your information. It gave us a very good overview of Arab spaces as opposed to Christians. His comments on the decorations of the Alhambra were excellent.

More information

The Alhambra is located on the Sabika hill, one of the highest areas in Granada and from where the entire city is dominated. It is surrounded by mountains and watered by the Darro and Genil rivers. With this location, not surprising, it will be chosen as the residence of the Nasrid dynasty since the 13th century

Through the s. XIII, IV and XV, the fortress is transformed into a citadel, where there are several main areas: La Alcazaba or military zone and the palatial city, where the famous Nasrid Palaces are located, and houses of nobles and commoners who lived there

An official guide will explain this triple character of the palatine city. The visit begins with the Nasrid Palaces: El Mexuar (where justice was given and the council of ministers met), the Palace of Comares or Yusuf I and the Palace of the Lions or of Mohamed V. If anything stands out, it is the solidity exterior that contrasts with the delicacy of the interior decoration, full of filigree and writings to God.

After a short break, the visit continues through the medina and the Alcazaba, the oldest site and the first to be built. Mohamed I ordered to build its walls and the three towers: the Torre de la Vela, the Torre del Homenaje and Torre Quebrada. It is also one of the best viewpoints on the Albaicín

The tour will end with a stroll through the Generalife Gardens, a retreat for the kings and located on the Cerro del Sol. They are in the Nasrid style and were built in the s. XII. In addition to its Palaces, the simplicity of its gardens and the functionality of its orchards stand out.
